Various Artists - And Suddenly It's Evening [12", LP, Compilation]
I've been looking for a long time for the 12" of "Primitive Painters" by Felt (or their "Ignite The Seven Canons" LP on which it's featured) but for some reason i never come across it. It's such a wonderful song. Also after last weekend's record fair in Utrecht i returned home Felt-less once again. At least: almost. Because shortly before leaving i ran into this compilation album AND SUDDENLY IT'S EVENING from Cherry Red, and there it was! At least i can play it on vinyl now. The album has some other fine tunes by the likes of Jane, Eyeless In Gaza, The Monochrome Set and Laibach - but it was the Felt song that i bought it for. The song in which Elizabeth Fraser joins in in the refrain only for the words "you should see my trail of disgrace" is hands down one of the best indie songs of the eighties.
