My Bloody Valentine - This Is Your Bloody Valentine [12", LP, Unofficial]
Originally released in 1985 on a label called Tycoon Records, this is MY BLOODY VALENTINE's first record. It was reissued on Dossier Records in 1990, but after that many times bootlegged. This is a counterfeit version of that Dossier release, and to be honest i only bought it to have a physical copy of these songs. The music can't be compared to MBV's later work. This is post-punk goth rock pur sang, and not exactly my cup of tea. The songs are pretty incoherent as well. Oh and they had a singer back then, by the way: some guy called Dave Conway. Last but not least, Colm's last name Ó Cíosóig is spelled as Cusack on the sleeve. Weirdness.

My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything [12", LP]
Like the copy i have of Loveless, another reissue on Plain Recordings. And like that release, the sound quality of this version is not the best there is.
A few days ago the band announced the remastered reissues (on CD) of both MY BLOODY VALENTINE's Creation albums in May, [see here], so here's fingers crossed for a vinyl edition of those remasters as well on a good quality pressing. And while we're at it, a vinyl edition of that EP's 1988-1991 wouldn't be bad either. But that's probably just wishful thinking.

The House Of Love - The House Of Love [12", LP]
I've been looking quite long for the s/t debut by THE HOUSE OF LOVE; it's not an album you run into everyday. But finally earlier this week i came across this LP in a very good condition at Iki-Pop in Turku, Finland. A great store by the way if you're looking for old punk and new wave vinyls.
I love this album; one of the finest ever released on Creation. Their later releases on Fontana are much less interesting, as far as i'm concerned.

School Of Seven Bells - Ghostory [12", LP]
Finally i got my long-awaited new LP by SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS in. I love their new album; at first i was a bit scared that you'd clearly hear that Claudia isn't in the band anymore but you can hardly tell - and to be honest i think this may even be their best album to date. Some really beautiful songs on this album.
I love how they use My Bloody Valentine's Soon in their closing song, When You Sing, without actually really ripping it off. Nice job.

School Of Seven Bells - Face To Face On High Places [12", EP]
I believe this is SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS' debut release; a one-sided 12" on clear vinyl with a laser-etched image of a bird (magpie? crow?) on a branch with a ring in its beak. According to the credits, the band still had a drummer and bass player then, so it was a five-piece. On the debut album Alpinisms, one year after this EP, it was just Benjamin Curtis and the Deheza sisters. And nowadays it's only him and Alejandra Deheza.
This EP is much more experimental than their more recent work.

Smashing Pumpkins - Tristessa [7"]
Today's best find (see previous post) was definitely this SMASHING PUMPKINS limited pink coloured single, called TRISTESSA. It was released as a part of the Sub Pop Singles Club series. Normally very expensive these days, because it's pretty rare, but at •33|45• i ran into a fairly priced copy. Been looking for this single for a long time!

My Bloody Valentine - Tremolo EP [12"]
Did a little record shopping today and went to a store that's been recently opened in Leiden: •33|45•. They specialize in collector's items, hard to find stuff and reissues of classic albums.
Until today i only had a promo edition of the TREMOLO EP by MY BLOODY VALENTINE, but they had a copy of the regular version standing there and of course i couldn't resist buying it. It was rather pricy but i bought one other item (a Smashing Pumpkins single) that was pretty cheap so the average price was OK.

Sleigh Bells - Reign Of Terror [12", LP]
This new album by SLEIGH BELLS came out last week, and i've been spinning it nearly every day. Sugar-coated indie pop songs with genious riffs; most of them almost ballads. They mix Sugababes with Slayer and Lush with Van Halen. Love it. And the package is awesome: a thick gatefold sleeve with art prints included, and 180 grams vinyl. Everything you'd expect of a quality record these days.
